JUNIOR RATINGS
GJTT, as well as JTT leagues around the country, are now able to use junior ratings to recommend appropriate levels of play for juniors. GJTT has participated in the junior rating pilot program for several years so this will not be a big change for our league.
So, what does this mean for GJTT?
So, what does this mean for GJTT?
- Recommended levels of play be based on junior ratings. GJTT has been using NTRP ratings for several seasons behind the scenes. We will continue to utilize this info to recommend the appropriate level of play for GJTT junior players.
- No GJTT Visual Evaluation Day - Recommended levels of play will now be based solely on ratings. Junior players will either have a computer generated junior rating based on previous match play or they will have the opportunity to self-rate.
- Players will no longer be qualified as "Advanced" based on Southern Sectional rankings and will instead be determined based on NTRP ratings, except for the U10 age division.
Do you have a junior rating? |
Recommended levels of play are as follows -- Beginner, Rising Star, Challenger, and Advanced -- and are based on the junior player's age and NTRP rating. Players may also check to see if they have a junior rating in TennisLink here. (Note: You must be logged in to your TennisLink account in order to search for a junior rating level.) |

What if I don't agree with
|
Please contact the GJTT Program Coordinator at coordinator@greenvillejtt.com if you have questions or concerns about your junior rating.
Please remember that recommended levels of play are based on the lowest eligible age division. If a player wishes to play in a higher age division with a lower level of play, an appeal request may be made to by contacting the GJTT Program Coordinator (coordinator@greenvillejtt.com). For example, a U12 age eligible player with a Challenger rating may appeal to play on a U14 Rising Star team. Players with Advanced ratings will NOT have the opportunity to appeal their rating due to the USTA national NTRP benchmark for advanced players. |
