Do you have a daughter who plays high school tennis or wants to try out for the team in the Fall?  If you do, GJTT's Girls' High School Spring League may be for you.   This league is particularly well suited for those players who may not regularly participate in tournaments yet want to keep up their match play during the off season.

Match play will start on Sunday afternoons in March and run through May.  Participating schools change each year, so contact Arianna for more information and to register.

The Girls' High School League flight winner (and possibly runner-up) will be invited to participate in the JTT South Carolina State Tournament in July.

What is the GJTT Girls' High School League?

The Greenville Junior Team Tennis Girls’ League offers high school tennis players a team tennis option for the spring off season.  The matches are similar to Jr. Team Tennis, but with two big differences – 1) it’s a GIRLS only league and 2) matches are played on SUNDAY afternoons at 2 pm.    High school teams will compete against other area high school teams.  Matches will consist of 3 singles lines and 2 doubles lines (using high school format and scoring).   (Format is subject to change if team sizes vary.)

How many players do I need?  Do I need a coach?

Teams can be formed with players from one or more schools and coaches do not need to participate.  You just need 4-8 teammates (or tennis friends) and a team parent to help out for the season.   Players must be in the 7th grade or higher to participate.

A team parent will help organize the lineups and communicate with the opposing captains.  Or, you could have a player captain lead your team.  Player captains (with the help of a team parent) can captain your team and potentially get service hour credits along the way.  For more details about the league, match setup, and captain’s duties, please see
www.greenvillejtt.com.

If you do not have enough players from your school, you still have an opportunity to play.  We can help small groups of players combine to form teams if needed.

Where do we play?

League matches will be held on local area public courts or on school courts, where permitted.    Use of your high school courts is NOT required.  Since this is a GJTT sponsored league, we are able to provide schools with an insurance certificate for use of their courts.

When does it start?
When are the matches?

The season will start in March and run through May.  We will have 6-8 weeks of play depending on number of teams.

How much does it cost?

The GJTT registration fee per season is $53.10 which includes a $48 local registration fee and $5.10 administration fee.  A valid USTA membership is also required.  USTA memberships cost $20 for 1 year and will cover multiple seasons of GJTT play.

A scholarship program is available for qualified players.

Sounds fun.  What's next?

Registration starts in December and runs through March.  A registration link is below.

What if we win the league?

The team that finishes the season with the most number of team wins will be invited to participate in the South Carolina Junior Team Tennis State Tournament in July in Camden, SC.

Advancing teams will compete against other high school girls teams from around the state.  Players must participate in two matches to qualify to advance to the State Tournament.  Advancing teams must have at least 4 qualified players to participate.  The runner up team may also receive an invitation to participate.

For more information on the tournament, please go to http://www.southcarolina.usta.com/Juniors/jr_team_tennis/jr_team_tennis_state_championships/

Scoring / Team Wins:   Please note that team wins are determined by number of individual lines won per match and not on total games won.  Alternative scoring will be used in the JTT State Tournament.
