Guidance
How many kids should I place on each team?
The answer to this question depends on the level of play and the expected commitment from your players. Consider the number of required players each week (for example: 2-4 players for a U10 team or or 5-8 for U14 Challenger team) and how often your players want to play. This can be a huge variable since some kids want to play every other week and some kids want to double up each match. Setting expectations for your players up front can help with this decision. See GJTT League Breakdown for more details. How do I handle players who miss the birthday cut-off for an age group? For Beginner, Rising Star and Challenger-Local Play leagues, the birthday cut-off is a guideline but not a strict requirement. You can use your best judgement for these leagues. If the skill level is appropriate, then that's what matters most. For Challenger Advancing leagues, the birthday is a strict requirement and we don't have any flexibility. The only options are for the team or player to move to next age division or for the ineligible player to participate but all matches played will be entered as defaults. What if I have a team of all boys or all girls? Beginner, Rising Star and Challenger - Local Play teams have relaxed gender requirements and may be the best fit for your team. See GJTT League Breakdown for more details. What happens if a junior player registers and then I can't form a team at that age / skill level? There are a couple of options for dealing with this situation:

When do my teams need to be finalized?
Please email requested team details including team flight (age and skill level), players names and captain info (name, email, USTA number and cell) to gjttcoordinator@gmail.com. After registration closes for your club, we can also supply a spreadsheet of registered players to help with the process. |
Scheduling Process
Black Out Dates |
We will contact you during player registration to get black out dates for your club. Please keep in mind that the scheduling part of GJTT is becoming more and more complicated as the league grows. If you club's courts are not available in a given week, we may have to get creative with scheduling.

|
Prior to schedules being published, we are adding a checkpoint for club coordinators and team captains. We will distribute a list of all GJTT teams and their flights, along with number of proposed matches, start and end dates, and club black out dates. We'll ask for your review before we finalize the season's schedule.
